AIPDaily Does Weekly App Review with MiKandi Adult App Market

Getting Your Adult Apps Noticed

One of the challenges for many developers, of any app store or app market (or whatever you’re allowed to call it these days) is app visibility.   Getting an app in front of as many eyeballs as possible is extremely important.  We understand the value of this and know our success at MiKandi is highly based upon the success of our developer community.  So we’ve been introducing ways to help market these sinfully delightful byte sized treats.  Just recently we launched Direct Inward Linking, so our developers could drive more customers directly to their MiKandi adult app.

So this week  we paired up with the awesome team at AIPDaily – an adult industry news site,  to post their reviews of content from our adult app market.  Working together on a weekly basis in the upcoming weeks, we hope to spotlight our talented developers and create as many adult app stars as possible!  Check out a snippet of their first review, on the controversial iBoobs app below.

iBoobs App

iBoobs started as an iPhone Application, but we all know how Apple applies strict restrictions on adult content for their app store. Later on the iBoobs app was added to the Android market after a couple of days, the lite version received many downloads, somewhere between 10.000 – 50.000, but what does the app do and why does it attract so many people…

Banned from Apple and Google, MiKandi Welcomes iBoobs

iBoobs Uncensored in the MiKandi App Market

Not too long ago, the interwebz was inundated with tech articles, blog posts, and comments around Apple’s not so transparent app approval process.  What ensued after was an aggressive app banishment of “explicit” content from Apple’s app store.   The aftermath left many developers without a happy home, the creative genius of the iBoobs’ team included. (Impatient? Get the app here now)

In a noble fashion, iBoobs bounced back (see what I did there?) by taking advantage of Android’s open OS and released an Android version of their popular app to give the people what they really wanted… the freedom to choose ‘awesome’ without limitation.

Cue Triumphant Anthem: *Eye of the Tiger* …slow fade, then… Stop.

Unfortunately this small victory was short-lived.  According to the developer, Mystic Game Development, the uncensored version was banned from the Android Market and the lite version was cut off from all Admob ad services.

Third Time’s a Charm

Enter MiKandi, the world’s first and only app store for adults, who today welcomed the controversial app with open arms. “The great thing about the Android OS is that even if you can’t get iBoobs from the Android Market, you can still get this and other uncensored adult apps through MiKandi,” says co-founder Jennifer McEwen.

Adds the Mystic Game Development team,

We’re very happy that there are alternatives to the very closed-minded app market and app stores of Google and Apple. We hate to see that both of those big companies deal with their developers in terribly bad ways. Working with the MiKandi team gives us freedom and appreciation. We don’t feel like just a number in the big pool of developers.

MiKandi’s uncensored approach has resonated strongly with developers and adult mobile users, now generating over 500,000 app downloads per month. This week, MiKandi released its Direct Inward Linking API enabling developers to drive new customers directly to their app detail pages within the app store. Want iBoobs? Click and ye shall find.

Saweeeeet, right? Well, don’t take our word for it…

Make Your Adults Apps Haptastic

Take a moment.  Familiarize.

Haptic technology is a tactile feedback technology that takes advantage of a user’s sense of touch by applying forces, vibrations, and/or motions to the user… …It has been described as “(doing) for the sense of touch what computer graphics does for vision”. –Wikipedia.

We have the ability to experience the world with five senses; sight, hearing, taste, smell and touch.  We use these same basic senses as sexual beings to enjoy all pleasurable sensations.  Wouldn’t it be great to experience adult apps with more than two senses?!

Now who knows how far away we are from technology that provides the sensation of taste or smell-o-vision (there might be a market for it – NFSW).  But touch.  That’s not far-fetched at all.  Just image applying haptics to MiKandi apps?  I’m sure users would appreciate a thing like that.  Lucky for all of us, there’s a company whose technology can help bring virtual world experiences a bit closer to reality.

Immersion has been developing haptic technology for almost two decades.  They’re introducing they’re new development platform, MOTIV for Android.  It’s designed to simplify haptic integration for application developers.  The MOTIV SKD helps developers easily design their apps with haptics by providing tools such as: the API, sample code, libraries with over 100 pre-designed effects, reference documentation and a conversion layer that allows for easy incorporation of haptic effects into Android apps.

Check this video out.  Let it marinate.  Then start thinking of all the possibilities!

For those who are interested, the MOTIV SDK is expected to be available in March 2011.  Follow Immersion on Facebook, or join their mailing list motivdev@immersion.com to receive a launch notification.

Public Service Announcement

This Public Service Announcement is unofficially brought to you by Antoine Dodson.

For those of you that don’t know him, Antoine Dodson made his debut appearance on WAFF News which can be seen here.  Which was followed up by the very viral, auto-tuned, Bed Intruder song.  Now he has a new app for Android called the Sex Offender Tracker using augmented reality – “It’s uhhh TECNOLOGY!”

This app displays red dots for the locations of sex offenders near in proximity.  Now before you go out and nab some bad guys, keep this in mind.  Accusing somebody mistakenly for a sex offender is serious business, so please remember to track responsibly.

Ok. Now do your part to make the streets safer for yo kids, yo wives and yo husbands living out hee-uh!

Divabot. The other type of Android… sorta.

You gotta love the creativity behind the brilliant minds of the Japanese.   At Japan’s Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology, they’ve developed the world’s first robot pop star.  Yep, that’s right.  She can sing and she can bust a move.  That’s taking the term, “doing the robot” to a whole ‘notha level!

Divabot (the name they’ve dubbed her) uses special software to precisely mimic a human singer’s head movements and facial features and synthesizes notes with Yamaha’s Vocaloid software.  Talk about Japanese innovation.  Eat your heart out SURALP Humanoid Robot!  The students at Sabanci University Robot Research Laboratory Platform in Turkey have created their own robot too… just 8 years and 1 million dollars later.  You think they could’ve made it a bit sexier, no?

Want to experience more Japanese innovation?  There’s all sorts of goodies to experience!  Next time you’re with your buddies, create a forced awkward situation for everyone and watch some creatively uncomfortable Hentai. It will bring you and your pals closer as a unit.  Trust.
