Today’s Link Love: Moving Porn Forward

Over the past few decades, the adult industry has made significant transitions and contributions in and to the world we live in. You may laugh, but many technologies we use today were driven by the industry- from VHS and DVDs, to online payment systems (maybe this time next year, we can add Bitcoin to the list). Some changes were positive- moving from brick and mortar adult video stores to online adult networks and affiliate programs. Other changes were unwelcome- such as torrents and tube sites. Yet, while the world the adult industry operates in has undergone tremendous change, for the most part the actual product remains unsettling stagnant.

If you’ve watched your fair share of adult entertainment, you probably know the adult film MO like the palm of your hand- see what I did there? You could recite a random film scene by scene and describe a majority of the adult films out there because they haven’t changed all that much.

Last week, one of our favorite porn blogs, porn.com/blog (obviously NSFW) shared this fantastic post detailing what they think porn can do to move forward. Some highlights:

On racism and the interracial niche

Apart from sending a horrible message that black performers are somehow “second-class” to their white counterparts, this practice broadcasts the notion to the younger generation that there is something inherently taboo about fucking somebody of a different ethnicity.

On porn for women

Females aren’t sexless, fragile creatures – no, they’ve got horny needs and desires too, so naturally catering to the other fifty percent of the population would not only be progressive but lucrative as well.

On transparency

Since the dawn of tube sites, porn will do just about anything to get a paid subscriber. There are a litany of ways to seduce someone into a membership, but imagine if porn came clean with its ways, scrubbed its image, and created female-friendly porn among other progressive changes. Slowly, but surely, the mainstream would be more accommodating in letting its red-headed stepchild sit at the table instead of hiding it under the stairs.

Transparency is something we’re particularly keen on. When we come across porn companies that try to trick customers, we can’t help but shake our heads in frustration. You’re ruining it for the rest of us! Customers shouldn’t have to worry about getting scammed by the people they’re trying to give their money to. We think that’s ridiculous. So, since day one, MiKandi has strived for transparency. We’re committed to giving you very best mobile porn experience. We do that not only by building innovative mobile products like our adult app store and streaming mobile theater, but by treating our customers with respect. We’re happy to see more transparent, ethical, and accessible next-generation adult companies emerge. Together, we’ll redefine what it means to be an adult company.
